The Building Trades Strike in 1900 was a strike in New Jersey in which thousands of carpenters, painters, and decorators protested low compensation. In Englewood masons and laborers demanded an increase of twenty-five cents a day and shorter hours on Saturdays.
On March 1, 1982, Englewood teachers began a 17-day strike. They were protesting wages and benefits. The strike ended in a new three-year contract between teachers and the school district.
