Englewood Makes History is a community-driven initiative dedicated to uncovering and celebrating the overlooked and underrepresented histories of Englewood’s African American and immigrant communities. With a firm belief in the power of truth-telling, EMH is committed to conducting honest, authentic, and good faith engagement with the city’s complex and often conflicted past. This work is not only about preserving memory—it is about building a foundation for justice, civic dialogue, and collective healing.
By exploring stories that have long been marginalized or ignored, EMH seeks to foster a deeper understanding of the forces that have shaped the city’s identity. Through inclusive public events, educational programming, and collaborative storytelling, the project brings together residents of all backgrounds to participate in shaping a fuller, more accurate narrative of Englewood’s history. In doing so, it helps the community confront historical trauma, recognize resilience, and imagine a more unified and equitable future for all its citizens.
