Description
Hannah Thompson was enslaved on the farm of Abel Smith near Leonia. She gained her freedom at the age of 21. Eventually, Thompson settled in Englewood. Her husband was born near Englewood on the Garrett Lydecker estate and gained his freedom at the age of 25. She died at the age of 110 at her home in the city. At the time, she was the oldest living person in the United States.
