Title

Osgood, Charles

Description

Charles Osgood (1933–2023), the much-loved broadcaster and longtime host of CBS News Sunday Morning, made his home in Englewood, New Jersey, for many years. He was a graduate of St. Cecilia High School. Known nationwide for his warm delivery, trademark bow ties, and thoughtful storytelling, Osgood carried that same quiet charm into Englewood life, where he lived with his wife, Jean, and raised their children. Though his career was centered in Manhattan, Englewood offered him a place of community and continuity, and neighbors remembered him as approachable and kind, far removed from the trappings of television fame. His presence added to Englewood’s long tradition of attracting cultural and media figures who found in the city both a retreat and a vibrant civic environment. Today, Osgood’s legacy in Englewood is not only as a celebrated journalist but also as a neighbor whose life and work reflected the city’s blend of intimacy and influence. Osgood lived in a home built by one of Englewood's founders, J. Wyman Jones.
