Description

Wilson Pickett was a singer and songwriter and longtime resident of Englewood. He began his career in 1955 when he joined a gospel group named the Violinaries. He joined the Falcons in 1959 co-writing "I Found a Love." His first major solo record was "It's Too Late." By 1965 he received a Grammy nomination for "In the Midnight Hour." He continued making music and collaborating with many artists from the 1970s to 1990s. Pickett gained a Grammy nomination for It's Harder Now in 1999.
