Brooke Shields is an American actress, model, author, and labor leader whose career has spanned more than five decades. Rising to fame as a child model and actress, she became an international star through films such as Pretty Baby, The Blue Lagoon, and Endless Love, before later earning acclaim for her television work in Suddenly Susan. In 2024, she was elected president of the Actors' Equity Association, the labor union representing professional stage actors and stage managers in the United States.

Shields has a notable connection to Englewood through her education. While growing up in nearby Haworth, New Jersey, she attended and graduated from the Dwight-Englewood School in Englewood  before enrolling at Princeton University. Her years in Englewood coincided with her rise to national prominence, making her one of the area's most recognizable alumni and a prominent figure connected to Bergen County's rich cultural and artistic heritage.
