Description
Freddie Perren was an American songwriter and record producer. He grew up in Englewood and attended Dwight Morrow High School. He graduated from Howard University in 1966. He became a part of The Corporation during its founding by Motown president Berry Gordy. He helped write numerous Jackson 5 songs before moving to disco songs, In 1976 he went to Capitol Records and produced for The Sylvers. He also produced for Tavares and The Saturday Night Fever soundtrack by The Bee Gees earned him a Grammy. By this point, he had his own production company, MVP Productions. His second Grammy was for Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive" in 1980. He continued making music until the 1990s. He married Christine Yarian in 1970. He had a son and a daughter.
